Andrew Sullivan, notoriously anti-HRC, doesn’t seem to think it matters much. I tend to agree with him on this one. As much as I do enjoy the visibility that Obama has with some semblance of a gay community, going to the banquet isn’t going to do anything. It’s a PR-save-face for the March in the first place. That same day you’re going to have hundreds of students rallying for the repel of DADT. If you’ll be in D.C. on Saturday, you can find out about it at www.nemstudents.org. It’s going to take work from people, on the ground, if any real change is going to take place. No president on his own is going to change the status quo. A-duh.
