Preview: How Green is Gainesville?
Henry Taksier talks to the organizers and finds out what motivated them to put on the event.
Film’s We’re Seeing
Web Editor Travis Pillow and Flick File blogger Britt Perkins will be checking out these screenings on Saturday and Sunday, so there will still be time to check them out during the week after we post our reviews and supplemental resources.
End of the Line
Britt Perkins takes a preliminary look at this film about the collapse of global fisheries.
I’m here to say I don’t agree with the demonizing of fishing in general. Certain scenes with dark music and clips of fish slaughter make the simple fact of the food chain seem wrong. We are predators, plain and simple.
However, we have also evolved to a point where we can manage our actions logically.
The Age of Stupid posits that the world as we know it is over by 2055 due to climate change and asks the question “Why?”. Why did we not change when we had the chance?
One of the main merits of this documentary is the “sexy factor.” No, I’m not referring to the primary character, Pete Postlethwaite, though he is quite talented.
We also saw The Greening of Southie, Saturday at 3 p.m., which is showing only once. It’s about the foibles of green building. Watch the trailer below:
