Hey Rain -- your uncle Jim here ... and Arwen passed this on to me. I've been wondering what you've been doing with yourself .. being an activist and i am so glad to see you are being a quality Environmentalist, going for a long term sustainable planet, and as always, thinking and acting effectively and locally.

This is a good quality review of Ms Barnett's presentation and thinking, and i wish you good skill and a dash of luck in bringing political Florida to the table to come up with a long-term sustainable future for Florida's water -- instead of the short-sight selfish greed the Florida is currently struggling thru.

I note that some of the most effective learning -- even for Republican politicians -- comes from being burnt by circumstances, particularly ones they have created . And even Republican politicians can sometimes learn from being burnt.

big grin, and love and peace, jim

This is an important issue all over this country. There will be a time in the future where people wonder how we could flush perfectly good water down the toilet with our waste. With all the technology for composting toilets and gray water usage, it is a shame that these things haven't become common place and are written into our building codes. We'll get into rain water usage at another time. ;-)

Thanks for this article...it is informative and helpful....I'll send it around our neighborhood, and anywhere else I can think of....Maybe get a speaker and form a neighborhood action group here, too. Wish I'd heard the presentation, but I am definitely aware of the need to tackle this problem.

We need state-wide grassroots education/action...is there a group already formed in Gainesville?
